Thor Urbana is a leading real estate investment and development company based in Mexico. Through its vertically integrated platform, the firm specializes in the sourcing, acquisition, development, repositioning, leasing, and management of real estate assets, including lifestyle retail centers, luxury hotels and resorts, class A office buildings and residential communities, as well as industrial parks in Mexico and Latin America.


Thor Urbana currently operates more than 20 assets in cities such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Merida, Metepec, Los Cabos, Tulum, San Luis Potosi, Tijuana, Riviera Nayarit, and Belize, among many others.

OUR HISTORY

Thor Urbana was founded in 2012. Just one year later, in 2013, Calle Corazon and The Thompson Hotel projects began development in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, one of the most important tourist destinations in the region.

From that moment on, Thor Urbana has not ceased to grow. Today, we have more than 20 projects under development and operation in Mexico and Latin America´s most important cities.




2012

  • Thor Urbana is founded.
  • First investment vehicle raised with a Canadian pension fund.
  • Land acquisition to build Calle Corazon hotel and lifestyle center in Playa del Carmen.
  • Land acquisition in Playa del Carmen for The Shops at 5ta & Calle 8 and The Thompson Hotel and Beach Club.

2013

  • Development initiated for Calle Corazon and The Thompson Beach House.
  • Land purchased for The Landmark Guadalajara, Jalisco.

2014

  • Acquisition of Altavista 147 lifestyle center and Masaryk 120 shops in Mexico City.
  • Land acquisition for Lomas Verdes, Town Square Metepec, and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Mexico City.
  • Development initiated for The Shops at 5ta & Calle 8.
  • Thor Urbana places USD $500 M in AUM.

2015

  • Second investment vehicle raised with a Canadian pension fund.
  • Operations commence for Calle Corazon and The Shops at 5ta & Cale 8 in Playa del Carmen.
  • Acquisition of land for Montage Hotel & Residences in Los Cabos, Caye Chapel hotel and residence in Belize, and The Harbor lifestyle center in Merida.
  • Development initiated for The Landmark Guadalajara.
  • Assed acquisition for repositioning, La Palapa.

2016

  • Thompson Beach House and Masaryk 120 open to the public.
  • Land acquisition for The Park mixed-used project in San Luis Potosi.
  • Development initiated for Montage Hotel & Residences.
  • Thor Urbana reaches USD $15 Bn in AUM.

2017

  • Acquisition of The Landmark mixed-use project in Tijuana, Baja California.
  • Acquisition of additional land for Lomas Verdes.

2018

  • Third investment vehicle (CKD) raised via the Mexican Stock Exchange with Afores.
  • Acquisition of Marina Puerto Cancun lifestyle center in Quintana Roo.
  • Montage Hotel & Residences, The Harbor Merida, The Landmark Guadalajara, and Town Square Metepec open to the public.

2019

  • Land acquisition for a hotel in Riviera Nayarit.
  • Launch of Caye Chapel private residential community.

2020

  • Development initiated for The Park San Luis Potosi.
  • Acquisition of Gold and Beach club in Marina Puerto Cancun.
  • Land acquisition for hotel and beach club in Tulum, Quintana Roo.
  • Land acquisition for The Landmark Reserve in Guadalajara, Jalisco.

2021

  • Fourth investment vehicle (CERPI) raised via the institutional stock exchange (BIVA).
  • Development commences for The Landmark Reserve.
  • Land acquisition for all-inclusive hotel in Rivera Maya, Quintana Roo.
  • The Ritz-Carlton in Mexico City opens to the public.
  • Disposition of Altavista 147 in Mexico City.
  • Acquisition and Lauch of Nauka Nayarit Private Residential Community.
  • Thor Urbana reaches USD $25 Bn in AUM.
  • Thor Urbana reaches +20 million sq ft of total developed area.

2022

  • Disposition of Altavista 147 in Mexico City.

2023

  • Acquisition of an industrial portfolio comprised of 11 buildings in Querétaro and Guanajuato.
  • The Park San Luis Potosí and The Landmark Tijuana open to the public.

2024

  • Nauka Riviera Nayarit and Scorpios Tulum open to the public.
  • Disposition of Marina Puerto Cancún Land Lots in Cancún, Quintana Roo and La Palapa in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo.

  • Opening of Siari in Riviera Nayarit, Arenas in Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo and Caye Chapel Hotel and Residences in Belize.
